Rebel Desk has had an exciting couple of weeks. We have been hard at work with a clear goal in mind: to make it as easy as possible for you to transition away from sitting all day.
We have been testing the prototype of our treadmill – The Rebel Treadmill 1000. We’re super excited to start making these walking treadmills available to the world so more people can stand and live better.
In the meantime, we wanted to share some comments and questions from our test users of the Rebel Treadmill 1000.
1. Oh, so the desk and the treadmill are not attached.
That’s right. The desk and the treadmill are totally separate and cannot be attached. The treadmill just slides underneath the desk. Very minimal setup. If you already have a standing-height desk, you will be able to buy the treadmill separately. If you already have a walking treadmill or aren’t ready for a treadmill yet, you can buy the desk separately.
2. How fast should I walk while I’m working?
The Rebel Treadmill 1000 has a top speed of 2.0 mph. So not exactly blazing fast.
Typical speed for typing is 0.8 – 1.2. mph. If you are just browsing the Internet, you might crank up the speed to closer to 1.5 mph. These moderate speeds enable you to type, talk on the phone, or focus on the computer screen.
The Rebel Treadmill 1000 also has another time-saving feature: it remembers your most recent speed for 20 minutes. So if you hit Stop and then come back and hit Start within 20 minutes, the machine will slowly resume to the speed at which you last were walking.
3.Ā It is very quiet!
Yes, we’re proud to be offering a treadmill that is very quiet so you can use it an office without disturbing others. The main source of noise when using the Rebel Treadmill 1000 will be your feet hitting the belt.
4. This is a very comfortable way to work. Do you ever sit again after using one of these?
Yes, you will sit again. But not nearly as much as you did in your pre-treadmill desk life. Walking at a treadmill desk for long stretches takes some time to ease into, regardless of your fitness level. Sometimes you will want to sit or just stand. With our adjustable-height desk, you’ll have both of those options.
