You Don’t Know What You Have Until It’s Gone

You’ve heard the admonition: You don’t appreciate what you have until it is gone. Well, this one has proven true for me this past week.

I have been without my standing and treadmill desk for a week and, boy, do I miss it. My life changed for the better when I started working upright rather than slumped in a chair and I did appreciate all of the positive benefits from this setup. But I forgot just how dramatically different I felt when working while sitting.

This morning I woke up and my back was sore in a way it had not been for weeks. I felt so tired after lunch that I had to get out of the house to wake myself up. I also noticed that I get distracted more easily when I’m sitting. In other words, reading the latest news online, getting a snack, or checking Facebook rather than completing the task at hand.

I miss my standing and treadmill desk and promise to fully appreciate it when I get it back!
