Halloween - A Healthy Holiday?

We don’t usually think of Halloween as being a healthy holiday. And it certainly does involve a fair amount of sugar consumption. But for many folks, it also involves walking. And that’s always a good thing!

So while you’re walking around tonight enjoying some Halloween revelry, remember that the simple act of walking is nearly magical!

Walking OutsideHere’s just a few ways that walking can improve your health and well-being:

  1. Can improve the processing of glucose
  2. May help improve memory
  3. Can reduce stress
  4. May help improve sleep
  5. Can aid digestion after a meal
  6. Can reduce the risk of blood clots
  7. Keeps muscles engaged
  8. May improve focus and attention

So it’s great to have an excuse to get out and walk tonight during Halloween festivities!

Did you know that more than half of our muscles are designed for walking? Taking a walk is a great way to break up a day at a desk. But for lots of us, it’s hard enough to pull away for lunch, let alone take brisk walks around the block. That’s where a treadmill desk comes in, of course. Get your work done, get your walk in.

So if that walking tonight also involves a bit of indulging in candy, think how good it would feel to be able to walk it off at a treadmill desk the next day!
